CPA & Winbat

CPA was designed specifically for sysadmins who need a smooth method of configuring XP logons in the local network. CPA cannot be tampered with without the proper XPT administration tools, so once a CPA shortcut is on a desktop, odds are it will stay there.

And the wonder of CPA is that it is self-contained, having no dependencies beyond what is already resident in the XP system32 directory, and is only 4KB (four kilobytes - yes you read that right) on disk. It requires no install - just put it in a directory along the command path and it's ready to run.

CPA shortcuts are placed in the system tray at logon by user specific Winbat scripts and do not represent loaded applications any more than desktop shortcuts do.

System administrators administer CPA shortcuts locally with 007. No 'out of the box' Microsoft operating system applet will ever have a clue that CPA is there, but 007 will find it. Each window governed by CPA is listed separately. It becomes extremely 'admin friendly' to stitch up a user's desktop in a pinch.

And CPA is a single instance application - it is loaded only once, no matter how many times it is invoked - and it uses an aggressive working set (and continually trims this working set) to keep RAM usage down to an absolute minumum.

File sizes: 4KB (CPA) 2.5KB (Winbat).
