Rixdock

Rixdock is one of the XPT's program launchers. It's based upon - or at least inspired by - the NeXTSTEP dock but goes a lot further in general flexibility and versatility.

Rixdock can do lots of kewl things: you can drag-drop anything you want, in whatever quantities might suit your fancy, and it will fire up everything you drop all at once; or you can double-click an installed target until your fingers ache and gawk at all the windows it creates for you. You can drag one target at a time to an icon on the dock, hold down Alt, and watch the target being installed for you. You can drag anything you like to the dock: an application, a document, or a folder.

Rixdock has a variable size but it always integrated with the system tray in the lower right hand corner of your desktop. It can display and manage up to 64 targets per dock file, and the number of targets visible in the dock is determined by you and you alone. Simply grab the upper edge of the dock window and pull in either direction.

Using Drag-Drop with Rixdock

Drag-Drop with Rixdock works two ways.

Installing targetsDrag a target to the icon on Rixdock where you wish to install it and hold down Alt. This brings up the Edit window. If you're satisfied with the target specs as is, just click OK and your new target will be installed.
Opening external filesDrag as many targets as you like all at once to Rixdock and just drop them. Hold down Shift to open everything minimized, Ctrl to keep the current active window in the foreground.

Odds 'n' Ends

Rixdock is integrated with the Windows shell and is quite impervious to attempts to size it or move it other than as permitted or to make it appear in a task manager list. (007 will not see it in its default display; 007+ will.)

Rixdock will lay claim to the entire 'corridor' on the right of your desktop from the top down to the system tray. This corridor will again be accessible when Rixdock has exited.

Rixdock should prove impervious to the rudest of attacks, retaining compatibility with the system tray through all kinds of weather; and in fact it recovers with dignity much better than the latter from an attack of repeated system changes.

As a lean and mean robust program launcher it's unbeatable.
