MS EULAs
MS's newest EULA goes even beyond the ridikalus! It now contains a line down at the bottom of the page (where no one ever looks before they click 'OK') that says not only can they come in and look around BUT they may also 'disable' any program they deem 'dangerous'!! And they CAN install any stuff they want on your box.

Re: MS EULAs
Yep. Each new 'hotfix' adds MORE crap to the EULA.
I turned off the 'auto update' feature, then disabled the service (yes, M$, with a recent fix, ADDED an 'auto update' service, something most people don't know).
The ONLY reason I still have a couple of Win2K machines is because of my Palms---some of the software I regularly use REQUIRES Winbloze (for the conduits).
Mary has her Winbloze machine, and she is also stuck with it (the hospital runs Lotus Blotes---errrrrr, Notes----which, among other things, she administers).
Sucks.......

Re: MS EULAs
EEEEK!!! It's getting worse all the time. Wonder how long it will take the alleged hot shots and MS campus to figure out a way to test to see if Linux is on the box (both prior to installation as now, and after) so if you install Linux afterward it would just 'refuse to run until you remove that virus package' (or they just have it violate the EULA to have it on the same box, and as soon as they can manage it, entire networks will cease to run if any MS product discovers a Linux partition <SIGH>).
I know they are still working on some legislation that would declare Linux a viral OS w/ no real value and insist on a chip on the motherboard that would refuse to install it. I'm pretty sure they can't do it now, but not certain... And anyway, at present they still only *think* they own a box I paid for!
As presently set up, the pads the docs and nurses wander around w/ are inherently insecure and as such will probably violate HIPAA. More fun to come as one govt group discovered they have insisted on implementation of something that will bring various sectors of 'bidness' to its knees.
I suspect the most egregious things will be deferred until the economy picks up. Just think how many hospitals are using the wireless webpads instead of that pile of paper that used to be clipped onto the end of your bed or piled up on the one place there is to put one's own stuff.
