2 July 2005 18:00 UTC
LONDON (Rixstep) -- Microsoft Chief Software Architect and obscenely wealthy tycoon William H 'Mister Bill' Gates III paid a surprise visit onstage at the Live 8 concert in Hyde Park today, speaking before a crowd of 200,000.
The virtual knight was introduced by another virtual knight, Bob Geldof. Mister Bill spoke to the crowd.
'Hello. Thanks for coming.'
'It would have been a bit crap if nobody had turned up I suppose.'
'I believe that if you show people the problems and you show people the solutions they will be moved to act.'
'The huge turnout for Live 8 here and around the world shows that. The generosity we're asking for can save millions of lives. We can do this, and when we do it will be the best thing that humanity has ever done.'
He then introduced Dido who thanked him for giving her the best day of her life.
Show host Jonathan Ross shared his bewilderment with the crowd that Mister Bill didn't stay longer so he could explain why Windows keeps crashing.
