STOCKHOLM/HGG20 (Radsoft) -- Spotify have released their API for x86 based (IA32) Linux systems, giving third party developers access to the Spotify streaming service.

The API has been 'briefly' tested with Arch Linux, Debian Lenny, Fedora 10, and Ubuntu Hardy.

Application Keys, Documentation, Download

An 'application key' is needed to access the Spotify service through the API. Developers with a Spotify premium account can apply for a key.

Full documentation is provided in the download but is also available online.

The download (~1.4 MB) also includes Spotify man pages and seven sample application snippets.
