Red Hat Diaries/003d

Ouch!

Hey Aaron.

Ouch! This reaction already on page 79 of your book.

I can understand that OS X and PB and IB are changing as this OS and
its tools are so new. It's still frustrating of course to look for
things in your book and not find them in the interface - such as
'Group in Box'.

This tutorial - RaiseMan - is conceptually very simple. It should be
a breeze to work through. After all, what we are doing here is
solidifying knowledge we gained from previous chapters.

But I cannot understand the mistakes in the code. I have been
writing and teaching programming courses for twenty years, and if
there is one rule you never break it is that all code must be pasted
into the text from tested applications.

This should have been a very simple tutorial. It should have felt
good to do. It should have netted me more and more firmly implanted
knowledge. But the user experience turns quickly into a nightmare
and where you should be learning you can instead be fumbling in the
dark, panicky and confused.

I caught the errors - that's my job 9 - 5 so I am expected to do
that - but I wonder if the others would.

Anyway, Cowboy Dude, it's cool. You are a cool dude and it's a cool
book - as long as the next tutorial doesn't make things worse. Only
thing other than that I can say is that Asheville sounds like it has
too many Jim-Bobs roaming around. Otherwise I might fly the bird and
come say hi to yer moo-cows.

Cheers.
