Rick,

Sorry about the errors.  I assure you that the decrement operator was 
there when I sent it to the publisher.  That and most other errors are 
fixed in the second and third printings.

They transformed my DocBook document into a Framemaker document.  I 
lost all of the following symbols in the transisition: --,  <. and >.  I 
caught all the < and >,  but missed the --.

Read the Errata.  It will make things go more smoothly.  Or, better yet, 
come to class.
